How to get involved

If we want to see the church make more of an impact on society, we must act. As members of the Body, Christians must work against the spirit of duplication and competition, and start to build Christian cooperation. There’s so much that can be done, but here are a few examples to get you started:

Think and pray

- Do you have a vision for your local area?
- How well do you know other local Christians?
- Do you know what the key issues are in your neighbourhood? They may be obvious, like lack of space for young people, or more hidden, like loneliness or poor diet.

Act

- Visit other local churches - find out what they are doing in the area, and how you or your church could get involved.
- Encourage your church leaders to talk to other churches in the area – and not just old friends – don’t forget newer or less familiar churches too.
- If you are involved in a community project, such as a youth group, look for ways of working with other Christian groups who are doing the same thing. Are there ways to share resources?

Read
